Server Builder FAQ
How does the server builder work?
Pick a chassis or model, then configure it part by part — CPUs, memory, drives, RAID controller, network cards, and GPUs. Pricing updates live as you build, and every option shown is one we have verified fits and is in stock for that chassis, so you cannot configure a server that will not physically assemble.
Are these new or refurbished servers?
Refurbished enterprise hardware, built to order. Each server is assembled from tested components, burned in, and configured to the spec you choose before it ships. That is what makes a 44-core, 512 GB machine cost a fraction of new list price.
Which Dell PowerEdge generation should I buy?
13th Gen (R430 through R730xd) gives the lowest cost per core and suits backup, storage, and homelab builds. 14th Gen (R440 through R940) adds NVMe and much higher core counts, and is the usual pick for virtualization and databases. 15th Gen (R450 through R750) brings PCIe 4.0, which matters when GPU or NVMe bandwidth is your bottleneck.
Can I build a custom HPE ProLiant server too?
Yes. The same configurator covers HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 in Gen9 and Gen10, alongside Dell PowerEdge and Supermicro. Pick the brand column that matches your rack standard and configure from there.
How long does a custom server build take to ship?
Current lead time is 5 to 10 days from order to shipment, because each server is assembled and tested to your configuration rather than pulled off a shelf. Expedited processing is available at checkout.
Is there a warranty on a configure-to-order server?
Every server ships with a free one-year warranty covering parts and replacement shipping within the continental US, and you can extend coverage up to five years during configuration.
Can I compare two server models before buying?
Yes. The comparison tool puts CPU, memory, storage, GPU, and networking capability for any two models side by side, so you can check whether the newer generation is worth the price difference for your workload.
What if my model is not listed?
The list shows what is currently in stock and configurable. We source well beyond it — contact us with the model and target spec and we will quote it.
